To be honest, I don't really care what they say. I may not be perfect today, but through grace, I'm on my way. Verse 1- Me and my flesh are battling. We're at it again. / I'm suffering all because of the Adam within. / My sin nature, I surely hate you. / My spirit loves the Lord, but my body just ignores Him like He don't exist, like He's only a myth. / Sometimes I wish that I didn't have a conscience / so I could take the trigger and pull off some non-sense / and watch my witness die, but I've got a lot of eye witnesses / commentating on my comments. / You want the truth, I'll give you the truth honest/ ly, This is the hardest thing I ever wrote, probably because this is the most honest thing I ever wrote... So, so, so, so where do I begin? Verse 2- Excuse me if I take my time. / I've had a lot of things on my mind. / People testing my character / in order to prove that true friends are on the decline. / Who can find a virtuous woman? / I'm trying to live righteous and be one of them. / It gets a bit harder when you're in the kitchen and it gets a bit hotter. / Listen, I ain't no better than the people I preach to. / Some people seem to think that I think that I don't need Jesus too. / That's a lie. / I need Him like they do. Difference is change. / Add the cross, subtract the life that I used to live.../ is Christ, to die is to gain. / That means I ain't ashamed of screaming out His name. / Although, sometimes I do fear social persecution. / You know, that fear will build up and knowing perfect love casteth out all fear, why do I still let it near?/ I should shut him up, but often times I just sit there as Satan whispers in my ear./ Doesn't mean I don't know the Voice that's calling me/ I just lack the faith to walk in my authority/ A part of me wants to give God all of me./ While the other parts are partially scared. / To be real with you, I can feel what you feel/ which is why I wrote this so we could openly deal with the issues at hand. / Don't put me on a cross for being transparent. / I've experienced the loss of a parent/ I've dealt with insecurities in my appearance, / regrets, and mistakes. / Just because I'm on these stages, don't ever think that you and I are any different. / I am human too. / I do what humans do. / I fail, I cry, I laugh, I poop. / And it's all to give glory up above./ My Father up in Heaven wrote my story way before the beginning of the earth. / I'm just playing a role, communicating His love in hopes of saving a soul/ I'm like a co-writer. Whichever way I go, just know, He ain't done with me yet. I'm gone... To be honest. I don't really care what they say. I may not be perfect today. But through grace, I'm on my way.
