VERSE 1- If you knew the old me, you’d swear you didn’t know me. I put on a masquerade, I was the Pastor’s favorite. Running to his aid, but running from the altar. I didn’t want to surrender. I didn’t want to alter my agenda. Thought I was living like a winner till the flesh took me under and sin got one up on me. Only me did I consider. I put Jesus and His Will on the back burner. In church every Sunday and some days I was deeply involved, making my resolves, praying up to God over heartfelt sobs, but didn’t keep my commitment outside of those four walls. I was a slave to men’s opinions. Muffled the Christ in me just so that I could fit in. I can’t count how many souls I let go without hearing the Gospel because I never opened my mouth. Lord forgive me. You told me to be bold. I denied you time and again. I just heard the rooster crow. Every time I disobey I fall deeper in this hole of self. Then self’s got to go….

VERSE 2- I swear to tell the whole truth so help me God. I’ve got to watch my flesh. Lust of the eyes. It seems so glossy, sin is so enticing. It taste’s sweet, but it reeks. It’s a deep poison. And just like Creezy said, it’s a killer. It will haunt you and leave you dead. Thriller. With no remorse, I turned my flesh into a corpse. Me and my flesh got a divorce, but please keep your condolences. I traded in my sin for holiness. And I got some new threads in the process. I’m making everyday progress. Yes.
